What does WASSRA stand for?

West Australian State Schools Registrars Association Inc.

Is WASSRA an industrial Association?

WASSRA is not an industrial Association but it can help assist you in your dealings with the Department.

When are membership forms sent out?

Membership forms are available on the website and also in the Term Four and term one editions of the Voice magazine.

What do I get as a member?

Attendance at Convention at a lower cost, access to the WASSRA website Members Only Section - which is full of helpful hints, useful links etc to assist you in your job, access to the new online full colour Voice e-magazine, Shoprite membership, Friendlies Chemist discount card, help in any way from WASSRA Committee, Professional Development courses, Minutes of Meetings in the members only section of the website, representation on DET reference groups and working parties.

Can my school pay for my membership?

No. It is against DoE policy for any membership to an association for any individual to be paid from school funds.

I am a Relieving / Acting Registrar can I still join as an "Ordinary Member"

Any Acting Registrar appointed to positions for a period of six months or more can still join as an Ordinary Member with voting rights.

Can I be a member as a School Officer/Business Manager

Yes. WASSRA welcomes and encourages School Officers and Business Managers to become full (ordinary) members of the Association.  We offer specific PD for School Officers,Aspiring Registrars and Business Managers at convention.

I didn't receive the Convention Registration paperwork?

The Convention paperwork is no longer posted out - it is all available on the Assocfiation website.  However it is still necessary to post in your registration form and payment - this cannot be done online.

Can my school pay for Convention and other Professional Development?

Yes. The school receives PD funds for all staff members at a school.

How can we access WASSRA funds in our area to organise PD?

The paperwork is located elsewhere on the website.  Alternatively you can ask your area co-ordinator to contact the Management Committee, or contact them directly for PD funding in your area.

Does WASSRA subsidise Travel?

Yes for country members. The DoE gives WASSRA a subsidy to disperse for travel for Convention. Area Coordinators can include a travel subsidy in their PD funding applications.

Who is my area coordinator?

A full list of Area Coordinators are available in through this website. If you are new to your school please make contact with them and introduce yourself.

How do I nominate for a position on committee?

When you get your convention papers there is a nomination form to be filled out and sent back in otherwise contact the WASSRA committee and inform them.

I would like to nominate for a committee position, but don't know what's involved?

Come along to any WASSRA committee meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and we will fill you in, otherwise phone or email  any member on the committee.

I haven't received a Voice?

The first issue of Voice each year is sent to all financial members as of December of the previous year. If you do not pay your current membership you will not receive Issue 2 of Voice. You need to renew your membership or contact the Treasurer to find out if your membership is up-to-date.  As from term three of 2010 the Voice magazine will no longer be hard copy - it will be available as a full colour e-magazine in the Members Only section of the website.

Who can attend meetings?

Any WASSRA member (Ordinary, Life or Associate) can attend any WASSRA Management Committee meeting held monthly or WASSRA Annual General Meeting.

Where are meetings held? Time? When?

Second Tuesday of each month from 4.00p.m. onwards. WASSRA meetings are held in the Finance Conference Room on Level One, 151 Royal St, East Perth (Central Office).  Please contact a member of the Management Committee for further information.  

If I need to change my personal details. Who do I contact?

Our database manager, maintains the database and can be contacted via email to update any personal details.

When I have a suggestion or idea what do I do?

Any suggestions or ideas can be forwarded to a member of the WASSRA Committee. For example you may have some ideas for Professional Development in a certain area, articles for the magazine or ideas for convention.
