Foundations for the Future:

On January 17 & 18 2004 members of the Management Committee met for a twoday workshop to develop a Strategic Plan for WASSRA for the future of our Association. Practical suggestions to assist Registrars and School Officers in schools were also formulated for presentation to the Department.

Our three main goals for the future of WASSRA are:

  • Full support for members
  • Increased profile and credibility with DoET, other Associations, schools and the public
  • A paid President, Business Manager and office facilities

Naturally these goals will not happen overnight – a great deal of planning and preparation is involved, and changes will need to be implemented to make these goals a reality.
If you are having a networking day or session you would like a WASSRA Management Committee person to attend, or would like to discuss an issue, please the president and we can organise a date and time.

Attendance at the AGM this year (during Convention) is essential, as motions will be put forward to alter the Constitution. These motions will go out to all members early term two, however one of the most vital will be to increase School Officers to full
membership with voting rights as from 2005. This is an important step forward for the Association as School Officers are the Registrars of tomorrow – they do relief work, take on acting registrar positions and face many of the same problems and
challenges that Registrars face.

This is an exciting and challenging year for WASSRA and the future of our Association. In our rapidly changing working environment we need to change as well if we are to be an effective Association for all members.

I ask for your full support to make the new WASSRA a reality – if you haven’t already done so please send off your membership form and pass copies onto Registrars and School Officers who you know are not members (there is a copy of the membership
form on this web site).

Please email
Carol Birch or any of the Management Committee if you have any ideas, suggestions, questions or need help or advice.
